These Celebrities Chose Family Over Fame and Fortune

For most people, it’s hard to keep the balance between work and family life. There always seems to be one thing that is compromised. The glitz and glamour of celebrity life sure has wonderful perks but it will also take much time when they need to travel abroad for shows and come home late at night after shoots. For some celebrities, nurturing their family is much more important than keeping a fabulous lifestyle. Find out some stars who decided to choose family over fame.

Hollywood power couple Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are one of those couples people look up to when it comes to handling their relationship and now, family life. Justin continues to pursue his long-time music career while Jessica can be seen going on red carpet events with him and some appearances on shows and movies.

They relocated to New York for a more stable home life. Jessica admits she puts her responsibilities as a mother on top.

“You don’t have a choice. It’s called get in the car, open the front door and you better be Mom, because nobody cares what you did all day,” she shared. “My work, I leave it at work. I don’t bring it home. I mean, yes, I’m exhausted and sometimes I need like, a glass of wine and to just hang out. But you got to let it go. You have a 2-year-old who just wants to play with you and that’s what’s most important.”

Chris O’Donnell

He became a heartthrob after appearing in Circle of Friends, The Bachelor, and Batman and Robin. He could have taken advantage of his 25-year old self and pursued his career but O’Donnell decided to stay away from the spotlight to focus on being a father.

“I was being offered these huge films that would have taken my career to a different level, and I decided to put on the brakes. I knew if I continued on that track, I probably wouldn’t have gotten married,” he said.

Now, the hot guy is a hot husband to Caroline Fentress for 20 years and a hot daddy to 5 children and he couldn’t get any happier. “I knew when I got into this business I couldn’t have it both ways: I could live the playboy lifestyle, which is not a bad thing to do, or have a traditional family life, which is how I grew up. And that was more important to me.”

Even before Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have filed for divorce, the two strive to raise their kids in a healthy nurturing environment. With both their busy schedules, they took turns in taking care of their children and not just living them in someone else’s care.

After they split, the two continued to co-parent and make their kids their priority. Ben even attests to how Jennifer gives their children a normal childhood as possible. “Jen is a superhero mom. She is an amazing mother, and I’m really lucky to have her as a partner to co-parent these kids with. We try our best, we put them first and that’s what we do.”

Demi Moore and Bruce Willis were considered to be the biggest power couple at the time when they got married. They had huge movie careers but when they decided to settle down, they chose to stay away from the camera and lived in the quiet place of Hailey, Idaho.

“One of my goals is to build a loving relationship so that my children, as adults, will want to share their lives with me. The foundation I lay — if it’s not there now, it won’t be later,” Moore told People Magazine.

Julia Roberts

It’s undeniable that Pretty Woman Julia Roberts is one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood.  It seems that Roberts isn’t just good in acting, she’s also done a good job in keeping her children away from the public eye.  When she married cameraman Danny Moder  in 2002 and became a mom to three children, she basically disappeared and focus on her new career as a mother.

She told Mario Lopez, “I’ve been a soccer mom for a while, but [it’s] soccer, basketball, aerial yoga.”

Roberts also said she owes her privacy to her lack of social media. One time, she was able to bring her kids to Disney without sparking some paparazzis.

“The strange culture of celebrity and the Internet age — I kind of am too old for that silly mess that goes on. I’m glad about that. It’s helped that I’m definitely of a particular age.”
