If you enjoyed Avatar, you are in for a treat because James Cameron recently made a huge announcement that will lure you back into the box office. The famed director will be making four sequels of his fantasy blockbuster movie, Avatar, over the next 10 years. We will once again experience the magic of Pandora!
“We’ve decided to embark on a truly massive cinematic project, making four epic films, each one of which stands alone but which together form a complete saga,” Cameron said during a surprise emergence at the Las Vegas Cinemecon event.
When the veteran director’s vision for Avatar began, he said that he had imagined working two sequels for his blockbuster project, but after consulting with leading artists and industry experts, he recognized that he had too much material for just two sequels and too much good material to just toss out. As a teaser, Cameron said, “So far, what I am seeing in pure imagination is far beyond the first film…It’s going to be a true epic saga.”
“Trust me, these are films that were designed to be seen in theaters and on the big screen first”, the 61-year old director added in support of the first-run theatrical experience.
“Now, as you can imagine, I need to get my [butt] back to L.A. and get back to writing,” he said. “And the next time I see you will be on Pandora.”
Avatar 2 is expected to be on Screen in December 2018 and then the next three are planned to be released in 2020, 2022 and 2023.
