English actress, Daisy Ridley, took the world by storm as Rey, the untrained Jedi and leading lady in J.J. Abram’s recent blockbuster hit, Star Wars: The force Awakens. The action role launched her into global stardom, and now she may get another opportunity to kick butt on the wide screen. Daisy may get the chance to take over the Lara Croft role, made famous by Angelina Jolie, in the upcoming reboot of Tomb Raider. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Daisy, 23, confirmed that there “have been conversations”, but said she has not been offered the role yet.
“I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it,’” the young actress told The Hollywood Reporter. She also shared to Us Weekly that the welcoming treatment she has gotten from Star Wars supporters has been overwhelmingly sweet.
“It’s very nice that people have been so nice, but it’s also good to go straight back on set — because we have work to do,” she said to Us at the Jameson Empire Awards. “I think none of us went into the film thinking, ‘Oh my God we’re going to win all these awards.’ But it’s obviously wonderful. It’s like the cherry on top.”
Daisy’s co-star John Boyega, who played, Finn, in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, believes she’d fit really well to play the role. “I played Tomb Raider the game, it’s a new take, and I think the movies are going to be based on that version,” John told The Hollywood Reporter. “But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘This is you!’ and ‘You need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be.”
While Daisy and many of her supporters are hopeful she can get the role, the young actress isn’t just idly sitting around waiting for her next film. She is staying busy currently filming Star Wars: Episode VIII in Ireland and will soon begin studies at university in psychology.
