The Women of Wakanda
Black Panther really did something legendary this year by casting a number of black women in the film. Who would forget these strong women? Shuri (Letitia Wright), Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o), Ramonda (Angela Bassett), and Okoye (Danai Gurira) really made a good impression as a badass bunch of warriors. Surely, movie-watchers will look forward to seeing them more, especially since they showed up in Avengers: Infinity War. They may be back for Avengers 4. Many are even hoping for Shuri, the brilliant and hip sister princess of Black Panther, to return as part of the Avengers pack.
The film Crazy Rich Asians is a breakout in its entirety and it was all Awkwafina needed to portray her breakout role Peik Lin Goh. The fabulous gay Asian Oliver T’sien played by Nico Santos was also iconic in his dapper look and his funny and witty lines. They both better be part of the Crazy Rich Girlfriend!
Although the movie Hans Solo: A Star Wars Story was a prequel to the Star Wars films, it definitely paved way for new characters. Move over R2 D2, droid L3-37 is here! The role was performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. While she may just be a robot, but she’s got the best lines, some good action moments, and perhaps, one of the most tragic deaths in the history of the galaxy!
Black Panther introduced a number of iconic characters including its villain, Erik Killmonger, played by Michael B. Jordan. Going up against T’challa for the nation’s crown, Killmonger disapproves of how the hidden country has been handling its affairs, especially their place in the history. He appears in a striking look with a scarred body.
It might be a short exposure, but Michelle Williams did a good job in becoming the female version of Venom when she bonded with its symbiote to rescue Eddie. In her short stint, she kills the henchmen and makes out with Tom Hardy. Of course, many still hope she gets another spin-off in Venom 2.
