The 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards was a night to remember, especially for Leonardo DiCaprio. After years of nominations and no wins, Leo finally snagged a victory. The 41 year old actor was named Best Actor when the lovely and talented Julianne Moore presented DiCaprio with his award for his leading role performance in ‘The Revenant’ as the 19th century fur trapper, Hugh Glass. The actor expressed deep emotion as he gave his acceptance speech. Like everyone, he had a litany of people to thank, and he even reminisced a little about bygone days when he was lucky enough to begin his acting journey and what inspired him to aspire to achieve greatness. Leo’s fondness of old classic movies motivated him to pursue an acting career and helped drive his passion for the craft.
The SAG award win will hopefully be a portent of things to come for Leo, as he is also nominated for Best Actor in the upcoming 88th Academy Awards being held in Hollywood, California. He is up against some stiff competition, so we’ll have to wait to see if Leo is two times lucky or not.
