Celebrity feuds are exciting as much as the red carpets, Oscars, and intriguing celebrity love stories we look forward to. They are very much part of Hollywood. Whether it’s a gossip or not, social-media hating, cold wars, and backstabbing are pretty much common in the world of Hollywood celebrities. Most of them are explosive and very public so it’s almost impossible not to notice them.
Here are a few of the best celebrity feuds of all time.
Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie
Who could forget the ultimate war between these two socialites and childhood bestfriends, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. They both dominated Fox’s reality TV show “The Simple Life” in 2003. In 2005, Hilton released a statement confirming the feud between them. She said: “It’s no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends.”
“Nicole knows what she did and that’s all I’m ever going to say about it,” she added.
According to reports, Richie got jealous of the attention her bestfriend was getting and was angry that she wasn’t invited to Hilton’s events. The bad blood grew after she threw a party for Hilton and allegedly showed the latter’s 2003 sex tape. A source said because of that, “Paris was very hurt. She loves Nicole but believes she is owed an apology.”
The two eventually made up and although the public has never seen them together for quite some time now, it’s nice to know they’re okay as shown in Paris’ birthday greetings for Nicole last year. Part of her caption says:
“Just wanted to let you know that I am so happy & proud of you…
I will always think of you as a sister & think of you often. Love and miss you.”
Martha Stewart and Gwyneth Paltrow
These two prominent ladies have been involved in a series of online slamming since 2014. It all started when lifestyle guru Martha Stewart made a comment on why the actress started her own lifestyle business, Goop.
She said: “She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”
She didn’t stop there. In Martha Stewart’s Living Magazine, she featured a pie recipe called “conscious coupling.” This was obviously a mock to Paltrow’s divorce with Chris Martin which she then referred to as a “conscious uncoupling.” This time, Paltrow answered back by posting a similar cake recipe a month later which she called “jailbird cake.” We’re presuming it refers to Stewart’s time spent in prison for fraud charges in 2004.
Fortunately, this drama seemed to have slowed down. In an interview with the 76-year old Stewart last year, she was asked if she was happy about Goop [Paltrow’s company] being investigated for having deceptive health issue claims. She said: “No, that’s not true. She’s a good girl.”
Hillary Duff and Lindsay Lohan
Then teen stars Hillary Duff and Lindsay Lohan were also involved in a feud which has to do with “boyfriend stealing.” Who’s the guy? It’s none other than the now bisexual, Aaron Carter. Duff met Carter at her show, Lizzie McGuire in 2001. They dated for almost two years and then he started seeing Lohan.
In an interview with CNBC in 2005, Carter said: “I was dating [Hilary] for a year and a half, and then I just got a little bored so I went and I started getting to know Lindsay.” Carter got back with Duff a few months after but officially called it quits in April 2003. Despite the “man-stealing” issue being over, Duff and Lohan continued to have a silent red carpet war when they kept appearing at each other’s movie premieres.
They also engaged in little dramas here and there like Hilary banning Lindsay in the premiere of “A Cinderella Story” or Lindsay mocking Hilary in her interviews. They finally put the feud to rest in 2007. Hilary told People, “We are both adults, and whatever happened, happened when we were young.”
“It’s over. She’s really fun. We were hanging out the other night, and she’s a nice girl,” she added.
Mariah Carey and Nikki Minaj
These two huge stars were both doing great things on their own until they both became judges in American Idol season 12. The two divas famously didn’t get along. In one of the auditions, Minaj walked out of the room after getting into an argument with Carey. The feud continued throughout the season which made the show even more exciting.
One unforgettable conversation happened after Mike (contestant) said: “All I Want for Christmas’ is the best modern-day Christmas song.”
Nicki: “It sure was, wasn’t it, Mike?”
Mariah: “Still is, dahling! No. 1 last year. Seventeen years later, it’s still No. 1.”
“Time heals all wounds.” Minaj then jokingly added, “And we watched my [sex] tape.” “We’re professionals. Have you ever had an argument with someone you work with?”
Katy Perry and Taylor Swift
These two just recently patched things up with each other after long years of bad blood. Fans thought it all started when Perry dated John Mayer, who was Swift’s ex-boyfriend. That was in 2012. However, it was something more than that.
Swift surprised everyone when she told Rolling Stone why she hates Perry.
“She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational — you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now, I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”
This inspired her hit song, “Bad Blood.” Perry also released a song called, “Swish, Swish” which was in reference to Swift. They continued to say cruel comments on each other during interviews and made some shots on social media to show revenge. While this may all be exciting, it would be nice to see these two singers to just come out in peace and be friends again.
A source said Perry was really eager to end the bad blood between them. “Katy hopes they finally can be supportive of each other’s music and maybe one day soon even hang out together again.”
“Katy realizes they need to take it one day at a time, but that this is a great start.”
