On April 19, TIME Magazine revealed their annual list of 100 Most Influential People. The diverse list is consists of people from politics, sports, entertainment, technology, activism, and more.
There are a number of celebrities and performers who made it to the list. These include Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman, Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman and Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot. Of course, Prince Harry’s fiancée Meghan Markle is there. She’s recognized as both an actor and humanitarian.
US President Trump heads the political figures included in the list. Barack Obama is still on it too. Other political figures named are Kim Jong Un and Robert Mueller.
Athletes were also honored. They have Olympians Chloe Kim and Adam Rippon. They also recognized basketball player Kevin Durant.
TIME did not forget to commemorate Parkland shooting survivors and activists Alex Wind, Cameron Kasky, David Hogg, Emma Gonzalez, and Jaclyn Corin.
Well, we can’t name all of them here but we can give you few of the most interesting common figures.
Almost 25 years in the business, there’s no way they’d forget to name Wolverine as one of the most influential persons. Surprising us with his latest and most talked about musical show, The Greatest Showman, Jackman has inspired a lot. One of them is Anne Hathaway who wrote this about him.
“… he is so likable, sometimes we overlook that he is among the finest, most committed actors of his generation. All that, and I have personally discovered him to be genuinely, truly, deeply egoless.”
Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman were both in Les Miserables.
First on the pioneer list is American comedian and actress, Tiffany Haddish. She first rose to prominence in 2014 when she played ‘Jackie’ in the television drama If Loving You Is Wrong. However, it was in the 2017 film Girls Trip that Haddish gained favourable reviews and was even cited by many critics for her superb performance. Chicago Tribune wrote, “this is Haddish’s movie, and will make her a star. It’s clear from the moment she hits the screen.”
She may seem like a really big star now but she wasn’t when Kevin Hart met her 13 years ago. Hart said: “…I noticed her car was packed to the brim with her belongings, I asked her if everything was OK. That’s when I found out she was homeless and was living in that car. I didn’t know the details of her life at the time, but I knew she had talent, I knew she had the drive, and I wanted to help.”
Truly, talent and passion could go a long way.
Hart and Haddish will star in Universal’s comedy Night School which will be out on September.
Coming from his smash horror hit, A Quiet Place, John Krasinki is also on the list of the most influential persons under artists. He started his career as a comedy actor and leaping into this kind of project proves he’s more than just that. His friend, Chris Pratt, has this to say:
“Producing, directing, and starring in this film redefines his place in Hollywood, and that place is right at the top. “
We don’t know how these two met but they’re seen sweating out together so they’ve probably been friends for a long time now. Also, Chris Pratt starred in The Five-Year Engagement alongside Krasinki’s wife, Emily Blunt.
PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN MARKLE
The royal couple is both listed under influential leaders. Singer Elton John penned the tribute for Prince Harry. He wrote: “Harry and I have bonded over a passionate desire to end the global AIDS epidemic, a disease for which his mother did so much important early work to fight stigma and build awareness. “
“Prince Harry has that rare ability to walk into a room full of strangers and make everyone feel comfortable and at ease,” he added.
As for Meghan Markle, a heartfelt tribute was written by her bestfriend Priyanka Chopra. Part of the message says: “This ever-smiling, strong free spirit found her prince, fell in love and in turn made a cynical world believe in fairy tales again. But more than anything else, Meghan is an influencer in a world that needs strong public figures to respect and look up to. People the world can be inspired by. Meghan, standing shoulder to shoulder with Harry, will be a princess for the people.”
Surprisingly, singer and songwriter, Rihanna is also recognized as an influential icon. Known for her top hits, Umbrella, Don’t Stop The Music, and Hate That I love You, Rihanna has made music her way of making a connection with people. Her songs have become the best break-up songs because they’re relatable.
“It crossed her over to every platform and into everyone’s lives. It felt like she had truly arrived, and she hasn’t slowed down since,” she added.
Adele also described Riri as “the most gracious, loyal, and funny goofball of an icon.”
