On Monday, January 23, Disney finally revealed the title for Star Wars Episode VIII. The upcoming 2017 film will be called Star Wars: The Last Jedi. This is the next installment after The Force Awakens in 2015.
The film is set to be released on December this year, as written and directed by Rian Johnson. With its title release, Star Wars fans may now have an idea and even answers to some of the questions after the The Force Awakens, especially with the introduction of new characters.
Is the Last Jedi Luke Skywalker? Or could it be Rey as portrayed by Daisy Ridley? The two came face to face with each other at the last scene of Star Wars VII. How will Leia Organa continue the battle without Hans Solo?
Now that Carrie Fisher who plays General Leia is dead, will there be changes in the overall plot? She had actually completed filming for Episode VIII but not Episide IX. There’s no confirmation yet from the producers if they have plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher or just like her love interest, end her role.
