It’s been 16 years since we’ve watched the first Princess Diaries film. Fans rejoiced in 2004 when its sequel was released. Since then, some people are asking if a third sequel is possible.
Just this year, rumors have been floating around about having a Princess Diaries 3 as a tribute to its late director, Garry Marshall, who died on July 2016. Earlier this year, Julie Andrews (who played Queen Clarisse on the film) shared on BuzzFeed that she’d be willing to do it.
“Annie had an idea that she wanted to pursue about it, and I’m all for it, so if she’d like to.”
Last weekend, this idea excited more fans as book author Meg Cabot hints at a possible reunion of Mia and Queen Clarisse at Genovia. She says she knows that a script exists but still not certain if a film is on its way. . “So, who knows? [It] could happen, as we say,” Cabot said.
Other than that, Cabot did not reveal anything..yet!
“I am not allowed to say,” she said. She explained further: “I would love to sit and talk about [it], but I can’t. I’m not allowed. But it’s really more following the movie than the books, so if she — the last version I read, she definitely did not find out that she has a biracial younger sister … which I personally would’ve thought was hilarious, but that was not the direction they were going.”
